... Wind Advisory in effect from 1 PM to 8 PM MDT Wednesday...
The National Weather Service in El Paso TX/Santa Teresa has issued a Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 1 PM to 8 PM MDT Wednesday.
* Event: sustained southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph Wednesday afternoon through early Wednesday evening.
* Timing: strongest winds are expected to occur between 2 PM and 8 PM MDT.
* Impact: high winds may make driving difficult for travelers due to strong cross winds and possible areas of blowing dust along local roadways. Areas along I-10 from Lordsburg to Las Cruces... southward through El Paso... and along I-25 s0uth from Hatch should greatest impacts.
* Visibility: patches of blowing dust may reduce visibilities down to 2 miles or less in dust prone areas of the southern deserts of New Mexico and West Texas.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

... Red flag warning remains in effect from 11 am to 10 PM MDT Wednesday for strong winds and low humidity for fire weather zones 055... 056... 112 and 113...
* affected area: far West Texas including fire weather zones 055 and 056. South central and southern Rio Grande Valley of southern New Mexico including fire weather zones 112 and 113.
* Timing: Wednesday from 11 am to 10 PM MDT.
* Wind: west-southwest winds 20 to 30 mph at the 20-foot level with gusts to 45 mph.
* Humidity: minimum rh 4 to 7 percent.
* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will create extreme fire growth potential.
