Snow showers moving over the area from the southwest will continue to diminish through the morning hours with breaks in the clouds developing. Areas of drifting and blowing snow reducing visibility to less than 3 miles at times. New snow accumulation less than 1 inch expected. Wind chill to 15 below zero.

    to 9 PM akst Wednesday...

    The Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect from 9 PM this
    evening to 9 PM akst Wednesday.

    Northeast wind to 30 mph with gusts up to around 45 mph...
    combined with cold temperatures over the region... will produce
    wind chill temperatures to 35 below zero from late Tuesday night
    through Wednesday. Areas of blowing snow will lower visibility
    below 2 miles at times... with areas of drifting snow along the
    Haines Road.

    A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... cold wind
    chills... and blowing snow... will cause travel difficulties. Be
    prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use
    caution while driving.

    Exposed skin in the advisory area can become frostbitten in
    10 minutes. If you must be outdoors... be sure to cover all
    exposed skin.

    Travel is discouraged unless it is an absolute emergency.

    This statement will be updated by 6 PM akst today or sooner if
    conditions warrant.
